چکیده

A stereoscopic cutting of stereoscopic display of 3D virtual objects in a real space using a human binocular parallax is discussed. For the cutting of stereoscopic image objects characterized by assumed physical properties, a software knife and two kinds of hardware edged-tools are developed by which the objects can be directly cut into without any particular constraint in their operation. Some essential techniques are then described for the realization of a force display system on manipulation of these developed cutting devices which is a useful human interface with direct feeling on fingers and visual recognition of hand movement in operation including spatial and structural understandings of objects. Finally, two kinds of imagecutting force display systems are developed which can provide an operator well attendance to the realistic operation of virtual objects with a smooth reactive feeling dependent on different cutting mechanisms and their given physical properties.

Veridical Perception of 3D Objects in a Dynamic Stereoscopic Augmented Reality System

Augmented reality environments, where humans can interact with both virtual and real objects, are a powerful tool to achieve a natural human-computer interaction. The recent diffusion of off-theshelf stereoscopic visualization displays and motion capture devices has paved the way for the development of effective augmented reality systems at affordable costs. However, with the conventional appro...

A Stereoscopic Augmented Reality System for the Veridical Perception of the 3D Scene Layout

The recent diffusion of the stereoscopic 3D technologies has yielded the development of affordable and of everyday use devices for the visualization of such information. This has paved the way for powerful human and computer interaction systems based on augmented reality environment where humans can interact with both virtual and real tools. However, an observer freely moving in front of a 3D d...

Stereoscopic Vision Induced by Parallax Images on HMD and Its Influence on Visual Functions

Visual function of lens accommodation was measured while subjects used stereoscopic vision in a head mounted display (HMD). Eyesight with stereoscopic Landolt ring images displayed on HMD was also studied. In addition, the recognized size of virtual stereoscopic images was estimated using the HMD. Accommodation to virtual objects was seen when subjects viewed stereoscopic images of 3D computer ...

Digitization of 3D Objects for Virtual Museum

Current approaches to digitizing 3D objects for virtual museum can be roughly divided into two categories. One is geometry-based, and the other is image-based. The major advantage of the geometry-based digitization is that the reconstructed 3D models can provide better interactivity for the users to manipulate the 3D virtual objects. Unfortunately, given a 3D artifact, it is usually very expens...

An Auto-Stereoscopic VRML Viewer for 3D Data on the World Wide Web

This paper describes an auto-stereoscopic VRML viewer for a stereoscopic display without any glasses called “Rear Cross Lenticular 3D display (RCL3D display).” By presenting a virtual environment directly on the 3D display, people feel the depth of environment just as the physical model. In the “net-surfing,” this viewer automatically generates a pair of stereoscopic images from VRML2.0 data on...
